TCS NYC Marathon 2018

I’ve oft told the tale of how I started running because of a fateful brunch, and then escalated from there. From that Bronx Zoo 5k, I felt the desire to keep running, using it to challenge myself as I pushed to further distances until I set my sights on a marathon. It wasn’t until my friend Carolann called to tell me that the American Cancer Society had extra bibs for the 2011 NYC Marathon that I even dreamed of running such a prestigious race.

Recap: NYC Half Marathon 2014

After running three marathons last year, I decided I was going to take it easy for the first half of this year. No major races while I let my body recuperate from all those small injuries that accumulate from pushing so hard. When the NYC Half Marathon lottery opened, I thought I would get an entry and see what would happen. When I was granted an entry, I decided to just run it rather than race it.

Recap: ING NYC Marathon 2013

After hurricane Sandy last year, we were all devastated that we could not run the NYC Marathon. 6 months of dedicated preparation wasted – and so were we when we heard the race was canceled. Time passed, training resumed, and team Unfinished Business prepared to run the streets of New York City to do what we had planned to do twelve months prior.

Road to the 2014 NYC Marathon: NYC Half Marathon

Every year in New York City, the marathon is a major event that runs 26.2 miles through all five boroughs. The second biggest race for the New York Road Runners is the NYC Half Marathon, a 13.1 race around Manhattan that 14,500 runners had to run four out of five of the previous year’s five borough races or enter via lottery. In 2012, I ran four of the races (Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens) in order to run this year.

On the Cancellation of the 2012 NYC Marathon

It’s been over a week now since the ING NYC Marathon has been cancelled. Between needing some time to put my thoughts together and traveling, I haven’t had a chance to put down my thoughts about the marathon’s cancellation. Finally I have had to time go behind the keyboard and express myself in words to post here.

Road To the NY Marathon: I Am Running in the 2011 ING NYC Marathon!

I have been running consistently for the past 19 months. From February 2010 to the present, I have gone out in sun, rain and snow in order to train and become a better runner. I have run 5ks and half marathons, working hard to achieve greater distances and better times each time I went out. Having completed half marathons, the next step would be a full marathon, and as of today, I am running in the ING New York City Marathon in November, the largest marathon in the world.

The Lego TARDIS Is On Display in NYC

As a member and co-founder of the New York based Lego User’s Group known as I LUG NY, I have the opportunity to to display my Lego sculptures at many events, including First Robotics conventions and the World Maker Faire. The Lego Group is reintroducing their community windows in their stores, and when I LUG NY volunteered to do the windows in the New York and New Jersey stores, I jumped at the chance to display in Lego’s flagship store in Rockefeller Center.

NYC Twestival: A Retrospectacle

On Thursday, February 12, 2009, over 200 cities worldwide held events to raise money for Charity:Water, an organization to build wells for clean water in third world countries.  I am proud to have been part of the committee to run the event here in New York. At the beginning of January, I saw a tweet […]
