Review: The Art Of LEGO Design

As LEGO has advanced, so has the artistry in the building techniques of its fans. As The LEGO Group has introduced smaller and more versatile parts to work with, LEGO builders have established new and more interesting techniques for building with these new parts. Unfortunately for newer builders, it can be daunting to figure out these techniques, but The Art of LEGO Design by Jordan Schwartz is here to show builders how to make the most out of their LEGO parts.

Recap: Queens 10K 2014

As marathon training began earlier this year, it became time to start running races again to prepare for the big races. The Queens 10k is one of the five borough races to qualify for the NYC Half marathon the following March. As such, I decided to wake up early Sunday morning to head out to run.

LEGO Fusion – Augmented Reality Meets the Plastic Brick

Children today utilize digital play devices as much as they do the physical play, but don’t necessarily differentiate the difference between the virtual and the physical. To bridge the gap between the two, LEGO has introduced four new sets under the Fusion theme that will allow children to build and bring them into their mobile devices and tablets to play with.

Special Edition NYC

Comic book conventions have become big, bloated masses of multimedia entertainment. Movies, books, television, video games and every other form of mass media entertainment overshadow the comic books for which the conventions are named. This past weekend, the folks at Reedpop, who run the New York Comic Con in October, put on Special Edition NYC, a stripped down show that was exclusively about comic books.

Review: The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Laboratory

I’ve recently started working with LEGO Mindstorms EV3, the latest iteration of the LEGO robotics system. Receiving a copy of The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Laboratory by Daniele Benedettelli was well timed, since I was learning to use the robotics kit as I began reading the book.
