NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon 2018

Each year, the hardest half marathon to get into in New York is the NYC Half Marathon, but as a New York Road Runners member, it is possible to run four out of six races – one for each of the boroughs plus the NYC Half itself – to gain an automatic entry into the NYC Half. With the London Marathon and my completion of the World Marathon Majors in the rear view, I wanted to get entry for the 2019 half marathon, so the first step for me was to run the NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Virgin Money London Marathon 2018

When I started running, it was an idle hobby. I had been working from home as an independent contractor and wanted a way to get outside in the middle of the work day to get a break from spending all my time in the same four walls. It was at a fateful brunch where my friends challenged each other to run a 5k at the Bronx Zoo, and little did I know where it would lead.

NYRR Race to Deliver 4M 2017

It was a clear, but slightly chilly Sunday morning in November when we runners gathered in Central Park for the NYRR Race to Deliver 4M. The week before Thanksgiving, we ran four miles in support of God’s Love We Deliver to help bring food to those who could not afford it this holiday season.

NYRR Abbot Dash to the Finish Line 5k

Last week was the annual NYC Marathon. Although I chose not to run it, I still wanted the thrill of passing the finish line (and get in another race for my 9+1), so I ran the NYRR Abbot Dash to the Finish Line 5k the day before.

NYRR Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff 5M

It was a rainy Sunday morning, and the weather had been threatening floods for that day, but it didn’t stop over 4,000 runners from heading out to Central Park to participate in the NYRR Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff 5M race.

NYRR Grete’s Great Gallop 10K 2017

This past summer, I decided I needed to throttle back from my long distance running. I ran NYC, Tokyo, and Boston back to back to back, so after the Brooklyn Half Marathon, I took a race hiatus. Now that summer has come to a close, it was time to return to those well worn running paths to continue my 9+1 with Grete’s Great Gallop 10K.

NYRR AirBnB Brooklyn Half Marathon 2017

Over the past few years, the NYRR AirBnB Brooklyn Half Marathon has become the largest half marathon in the world. 27,455 sold out entries were sold out in under a half hour for the privilege of running 13.1 miles in the middle of the borough. Regardless of having to go out to Brooklyn to pick up my bib at the “pre-party,” I was looking forward to running it again.

NYRR Japan Run 4M 2017

After a cold, rainy Saturday, we woke up early Sunday morning to a slightly chilly, cloudy Mother’s Day morning. Andrea and I headed down to Central Park to start our day with a loop around Central Park for the annual Japan Day run for New York Road Runners.

The 2017 runDisney Star Wars Dark Side Challenge

I decided last year to run the runDisney Kessel Run again after completing it in 2016. I ran the Light Side without a problem in January, but after signing up for Dark Side last summer, I joined Team For Kids to run the Boston Marathon – less than a week before running the Dark Side Challenge. […]

Boston Marathon 2017

When I started running, my original goal was to run a 5k. After completing it, my goals escalated. Run a half marathon. Run a marathon. And once I was running marathons, I wanted to run different courses, and I began to start on the marathon majors. The biggest marathon (not by number of runners) – and hardest to get into – is the Boston Marathon. On April 17, I set out to run through Massachusetts on my fifth marathon major.
