Bronx Zoo Run For The Wild 5K 2012

Two years ago, I ran my first race. A 5K through the roads of the Bronx Zoo in order to raise money for tigers in the wild. I returned for the third time to run the Bronx Zoo again and raise money for lions.

2011 April Detox and Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild Results

For the second year, I decided to take the month of April to reset and realign myself mentally and physically. Exercising, working and just generally getting myself out of the unhealthy habits that I normally have. Add to it the Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild 5K, and there is the potential to get healthy again.

Return to the Bronx Zoo Run For the Wild

One year ago, I was challenged by friends to run my first race over brunch. After 13 weeks of Couch to 5K training, I ran my hardest and successfully traversed the three miles around the Bronx Zoo in the Run For the Wild to raise money for Tigers. Tomorrow, I return to the zoo to run those three miles again.

Recap: Damon Runyon Yankee Stadium 5K

This past Sunday, I decided to participate in my second 5K. The first was a run through the Bronx Zoo to raise money for Tigers, both at the zoo and in the wild, and the second run was through Yankee Stadium to support the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. While I knew how unconventional the course would be, I had no clue what it really would be like.

I Am Running the Damon Runyon Yankee Stadium 5K

In my continuing desire to keep running and to run with my friends, I have signed up to run through Yankee Stadium for the Damon Runyon 5K. This unique opportunity helps raise money for cancer research and gives an unusual tour of Yankee Stadium that I couldn’t pass up, since it is an intersection of my interests of the New York Yankees, running and working with charities.

Review: Couch to 10K

Ever since the initial February challenge, I’ve been running. I not only used Couch to 5K to prepare for the Bronx Zoo Run For the Wild, but I kept running even after that race. Wanting to take my training even further, I began using the Couch to 10k program in order to increase my distance and stamina.

Review: Couch to 5K

As I have previously written, my friends challenged me to run a 5K because I thought to attempt running again. The first time I attempted to run, it lasted less than a week (mainly due to work commitments) and wasn’t the best of experiences. Since Lucius Kwok introduced me to his Couch to 5K iPhone app, I decided that would be the program I would attempt to follow.

Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild 5K and April Detox Results

Nine weeks ago, I went to brunch with friends and they challenged me to run the Bronx Zoo Run For the Wild 5K because I was considering taking up running but wavering because of the predicted poor weather. After 9 weeks of running and a month of “detoxing,” I finally ran the race. And I am aware there are a few days left of April, but I thought it best to recap it with the race results.

April Detox

March was a long, busy month for me. Between work, social activities and activity commitments, my free time became minimal and life became strained for me. As such, I felt like I needed to make April a reactionary month for myself and take some time for myself and my health.

I Am Running the Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild 5K

I was at brunch a month ago when I told some friends I was thinking of trying to take up running again, a failed endeavor a year earlier due to work commitments. The coming snow storm caused me to consider starting a week later, but cajoling from my friends pushed me to start the Couch to 5K program that Monday and to prepare for a 5K around the Bronx Zoo.
