NYRR New Balance Bronx 10 Mile 2019

The NYC Half Marathon requires running four out of six borough races in order to get an automatic entry. With three races down and a fourth needed to get into the 2020 NYC Half Marathon, I woke up early last Sunday to run the NYRR Bronx 10 Mile race. It had been a few months […]

NYRR Queens 10K 2019

In my attempt to get an entry in the 2020 NYC Half Marathon, I need to run four out of six of the qualifying races – one for each borough and the NYC Half Marathon itself. Having already run the NYC and Brooklyn half marathons already, the next race in the succession was the NYRR Queens 10K, so this past Saturday, I took sneakers to pavement in Queens to continue qualifying.

NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon 2019

With the NYC Half Marathon 2019 in the rear view mirror, I wanted to continue my journey towards running it again in 2020. To do so would require running 4 of the 6 borough races (NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, Queens 10k, Bronx 10M, Staten Island Half Marathon, and Manhattan 7M), and the second one of the year would be the NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon.

NYRR United NYC Half Marathon 2019

In preparation for the 2018 NYC Marathon, I ran multiple New York Road Runner races, including four of the borough races, which would get me entry into the United NYC Half Marathon 2018. The NYC Marathon was my last 26.2 mile race, but it allowed me the possibility of entering one of the largest half […]

TCS NYC Marathon 2018

I’ve oft told the tale of how I started running because of a fateful brunch, and then escalated from there. From that Bronx Zoo 5k, I felt the desire to keep running, using it to challenge myself as I pushed to further distances until I set my sights on a marathon. It wasn’t until my friend Carolann called to tell me that the American Cancer Society had extra bibs for the 2011 NYC Marathon that I even dreamed of running such a prestigious race.

NYRR Staten Island Half Marathon 2018

I had not run the Staten Island Half Marathon since 2013 due to different reasons over the last few years, but with a desire to qualify for the 2019 NYC Half Marathon and a need to get more miles under my feet for the NYC Marathon that was a mere weeks away, I finally was making my return to Staten Island in order to achieve both.

NYRR New Balance Bronx 10 Mile 2018

While training for the NYC Marathon, I wanted to get a few races in as part of my training. Since the NYRR Bronx 10 Mile was a fairly flat 10 mile out and back that also is also a qualifier for the NYC Half Marathon and the NYC Marathon, it was a perfect training run.

NYRR Queens 10k 2018

As races are run in New York during the year, they are often done with an eye towards the following year’s races. By running with New York Road Runners during the year, it is possible to gain entries for the New York City Marathon and New York City Half Marathon, and running the five borough series works towards entries for both.

NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon 2018

Each year, the hardest half marathon to get into in New York is the NYC Half Marathon, but as a New York Road Runners member, it is possible to run four out of six races – one for each of the boroughs plus the NYC Half itself – to gain an automatic entry into the NYC Half. With the London Marathon and my completion of the World Marathon Majors in the rear view, I wanted to get entry for the 2019 half marathon, so the first step for me was to run the NYRR Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon.

NYRR Race to Deliver 4M 2017

It was a clear, but slightly chilly Sunday morning in November when we runners gathered in Central Park for the NYRR Race to Deliver 4M. The week before Thanksgiving, we ran four miles in support of God’s Love We Deliver to help bring food to those who could not afford it this holiday season.
