Spotify

Earlier this month, Spotify finally came to the United States. The utilization of this popular British music listening service has been the goal of many a music fan here in the states and now, it is possible.

Must Have Apps For the Droid 3

The Droid 3 is the third iteration of Motorola’s flagship Android device. With its 4″ qHD display, 5 row slide out keyboard, dual-core 1Ghz processor and 1080p video camera, which also take 8 megapixel photos, it is definitely a choice phone. As with any new smartphone, it needs apps to truly take advantage of its capabilities.

Does Netflix Care What Its Customers Think?

Recently, Netflix did a redesign of their website, which made it harder to navigate their website with infinitely scrolling large images of the box art, but making hard to actually find movies someone would want to watch. This week, they brought a similar redesign to their PS3 interface, which makes it impossible to view more than five movie titles on the screen at the same time. Add to this Netflix’s announcement that they would be raising their rates on September 1, and their users are up in arms.

Video, Movie and TV Apps on the Droid Update

As stated in my first and second blogiversary posts, the most popular post on my blog has been Video, Movie and TV Apps on the Droid, a collection of applications to watch assorted tv shows and movies on the Android based phones. It was a request from the comments of one of my other posts because VCast wasn’t available for the Droid at that time, but that has since changed. After a year and a half, it’s time to update the list.

Second Blogiversary

It was July 2009 when I wrote Your Medium is Your Message in response to a Social Media person who downplayed the necessity of technology in favor of marketing. Continuing to write missives about social media, technology and expanding to other topics as they interested me, I wrote regularly every week, which brings us to the second anniversary of this blog.

Must Have Apps and Games for the Sony Xperia Play

The Sony Xperia Play is the phone that truly brings mobile gaming to the smartphone. Rather than the touchscreen games that are prevalent on the modern smartphone, the slide out controller gives a convenient way to play games with a reduced sized Playstation controller that allows the play of high quality 3D games without blocking out parts of the screen with controls nor covering the screen as one interacts with it.

Review: Sony Xperia Play – The Playstation Phone

With the advent of the smartphone and mobile gaming, it was just a matter of time before a manufacturer raised the ante beyond the ever popular Angry Birds and Cut the Line. The company to do that turned out to be the manufacturers of the ever popular Playstation consoles, Sony, with their new Xperia Play cellphone.

When Gamification Overtakes Usefulness

Gamification creates user behaviors and train users to act certain ways within a website or app. By creating a points and reward system, like badges on Foursquare and Huffington Post, the creators of a system can get users to do things that normally wouldn’t, but what happens when the gamification overtakes the usefulness of the app?

Nike+ Sportwatch GPS

As I continue running and training for races, I wanted to start having better accuracy than the Nike+ I had been using to train over the previous year. Since the sportwatch was adding extra distance to my runs and I didn’t want to run with my phone, so a GPS watch was my best bet. Having already tracked my training with the Nike Plus for the past year, I decided to try the Nike+ Sportwatch GPS.

Chevy Main Street in Motion

This past Friday, I was invited to the Chevrolet Main Street in Motion event at Citi Field. This is an event that is touring 24 cities across the United States to allow people to come out over the course of a weekend and test drive an assortment of Chevy, GMC and Buick vehicles, and some of their competitor’s vehicles, on preset tracks and routes that let a driver get a taste of what driving the vehicles is like.
